God of compassion, comfort and wholeness,

We come grieving the violence that sickens our souls 

and traumatizes our land.  

We lift up former President Trump, a victim of gun violence,  

We ask for his physical and spiritual healing. 

God of resurrection, renewal and reconciliation, 

bring healing to all who are wounded, traumatized and grieving.

May our bodies, minds and souls find rest and renewal in You.

God of peace, justice and hope, 

We confess our collective anger, judgment, and unforgiveness.  

Forgive us, for our violent attitudes, words and deeds.

Forgive us for at times failing to serve as your representatives in the world. 

  Help us remember that love can not rejoice in evil. 

Keep us restless as we resist the violence, indifference, and hatred that afflicts our land.

Help us remember that our tongues can start fires that do great harm.

Help us remember that we are all beloved Children of God,

 Help so live in your love that your light might shine through us, 

And help end this long night of our own making.

Spirit of Compassion 

heal our hearts  

guide our feet along the path of peace, 

Teach us to love mercy, do justice and walk with humility,  

so that we might break  the cycle of recrimination, violence and murder 

and learn to dwell together in peace, mercy and community. Amen
