A few words from God’s Word about our words
- Our knowledge, speaking and preaching is partial and incomplete. (1 Corinthians 13)
- Warning: We will give an account to God for all our words. (Jesus Matthew 12:36-37)
- Our words (typed or spoken) reveal what makes up our hearts. (Jesus Luke 6:45)
- Be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, because human anger does not produce righteousness. (James 1:19-20)
- Warning: Angry name calling can send us to hell. (Jesus Matthew 5:22)
- “Treat others the way you want to be treated,” summarizes the Law. (Jesus Matthew 7:12)
- Fill your speech with grace. (Colossians 4:6)
- Reconcile with others before you worship. (Jesus Matthew 5:22-24)
- Privately address a Christian you think may be in sin. (Jesus Matthew 18:15-17)
- Enmities, strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, disputes, dissensions, factions, and envying are practices incompatible with Christian lifestyle. (Galatians 5:19-20) Romans 1:28-30 lists gossip along with other super-sins like murder or God-hating.
- Avoid Christians who stir up divisions and start fights. (Romans 16:17 & 2Timothy 2:14&23-26)
- Make every effort to do what leads to peace and builds the other up. (Romans 14:19)
- Remember, Jesus’ prayer that we “would all be one… so that the world might believe”. (John 17:21)
- Only “faith, hope and Love” remain forever. (1 Corinthians 13)
