Jesus- a voter guide

 

Jesus’ foremost commandment is to “love your neighbor as  yourself”. ( Matthew 22:36)

Jesus uses an immigrant to define “neighbor.” (Luke 10:25-37)

Jesus provided free healthcare to all. (Mark 6:56, Luke 5:15, Matthew 4:23 & 9:35)

Jesus warns: “You cannot serve God and wealth”  (Matthew 6:24)

Jesus warns that feeding the hungry, welcoming strangers, clothing the poor,  caring for the sick, and visiting the imprisoned will show up on our final exam. (Matthew 25),

Jesus warns of hell for those who lob angry insults or tweets.  (Matthew 5:22)

Ugly words come from ugly hearts. (Matthew 12:34-35)

Jesus rejects violent solutions, for violence sews violence. (Matthew 26:52 & 11:12)  Jesus calls us to die to self, take up our cross and follow. (Matthew 16:24)

Jesus teaches us to  be peacemakers, absorb insults, pray for persecutors, forgive freely, and love (redemptive goodwill) enemies. (Matthew 5:9 & 38-48)  

Unyielding hearts grieved Jesus. (Mark 3:5)
